Don’t assume the nap is over when they wake after 30-40 minutes. It’s not. Stop. Wait. And listen. Let them practice soothing themselves to sleep first before you go to them.

If 2020 has taught us anything it’s that important conversations need to happen. Even though they live in a home that believes in inclusivity, kindness towards others, and just doing the right thing, this year it’s been important to explain to them why. Yesterday the kids crowded around the computer and watched the events unfold. They asked questions and wondered why my eyes were filling with tears. I explained that even though we are in Canada, today brings hope to so many for so many reasons.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’m not going to get super political right now because that’s not what you guys come here for but I let out my breath with so many of you yesterday. Yesterday brought the feeling of hope and a step closer to the healing that so desperately needs to be done.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Yesterday represented so many amazing things and was a day of conversations. Ones that will continue and felt really good to have.
