MeetAmanda

 

Amanda is a Sleep Consultant with Good Night Sleep Site and mother of a young, active boy and loving every minute! She first got interested in sleep by attending a Good Night Sleep Site seminar at a local Mom’s group, which got her wondering about the science of sleep cycles and circadian rhythms.

Soon after that her own little one went through some sleep struggles and she put the ideas from the seminar in practice. When they worked (and she was getting more sleep herself) she was determined to dig a little deeper and started reading books and sleep studies to discover more.

With her background in education it became natural for her to start talking to other Moms about what she was finding out and to help and encourage them to overcome their own sleep challenges. Being a sleep consultant is the next logical step! She then became certified through the Family Sleep Institute and trained as a Good Night Sleep Educator.

When not thinking or talking about sleep, Amanda loves cooking (with or without her tiny sous chef), reading and a whole range of crafts – and hopes to eventually be able to knit something more complicated than a scarf or baby blanket!

I knew lack of sleep could have an effect on someone’s mood (I had been going without it for 9 months) but I had no idea by how much. It’s like we have a new baby he’s so much happier and pleasant! The things Amanda taught us make so much sense and have made such a difference. Our son never went to sleep without it least half an hour of rocking and was still waking up it least once a night usually more. Naps were the worst, with the only way of the baby getting a decent nap was sitting with him on the couch, which didn’t leave much time in the day for anything else. Now he goes down on his own sleeps through the night and naps are in his crib. I can’t express how grateful we are, I can finally enjoy my mat-leave with our baby knowing he’s getting the rest that he needs.

If you had told me two weeks ago that my baby would sleep so well I would never have believed you. Thanks for all your support everyday and at all hours Amanda!

Working with Amanda has been a great experience! Her sleep plan gave me the tools I needed to help my baby become a better sleeper, and her support gave me the confidence I needed to implement them. I had done a lot of reading about infant sleep, but it’s easy to second guess yourself when your baby is screaming at 3am! Her advice and guidance reassured me that I was making the right decisions. I also love the sleep log! When you are in the thick of it, you often feel like baby was crying half the night. Taking a step back and reviewing the log helps give things a little perspective, and you realize it really wasn’t as bad as it felt at the time. Plus, the prompt feedback is the next best thing to having the sleep consultant in the room with you!

Amanda was amazing! At 4 and 1/2 months old our daughter started waking up 4 to 5 times a night. She was also only taking three 30 min naps a days. We were also in the habit of rocking her to sleep with a pacifier.

At 5 and 1/2 months we decided we needed to make some changes and started working with Amanda.
Within 3 days of implementing Amanda’s plan our daughter was only waking once a night for 15 min to eat and started taking two 1 to 1.5 hour naps and one 30 to 45 min nap in the late afternoon. She no longer needed the pacifier and we didn’t have to rock her to sleep anymore!

We feel like new people and can’t thank her enough for helping us all get much needed sleep!

We are so incredibly grateful for Amanda’s help, our life before Good Night Sleep Site was pure sleep deprivation. Our son would wake up every 45 minutes and stay awake from 2-6am. We tried everything we could, read all the websites… we were exhausted, frustrated, and at the end of our rope. We needed help fast! Amanda was extremely knowledgeable, patient and understanding. We could not have imagined that our life, within 2 weeks, would be back to normal! Our son is finally able to fall asleep on his own.
